Bulldogs claw back to snag victory over Panthers

The Belgreen Bulldogs roared back from an early deficit to defeat the Hackleburg Panthers 47-44 in a thrilling contest.

Hackleburg came out strong, taking a 16-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, Belgreen began to chip away at the lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Panthers 14-11 to narrow the gap to 27-25 at halftime.

The third quarter proved to be the turning point in the game as the Bulldogs defense tightened up, holding the Panthers to just three points while their offense exploded for 14 points. This dominant performance gave Belgreen a crucial lead heading into the final quarter.

Hackleburg fought valiantly to close the gap in the fourth, outscoring Belgreen 14-8. But the Bulldogs held on, securing a hard-fought victory.

Dacota Green led the charge for Belgreen with 15 points, followed by Carson Hovater with 8. Bryn Scott contributed 6 points, while Makenna Fisher added 5. Randi Terry, Lilliana Willingham and Alayana Tate each scored 3 points. Jacqueline Alban and Mackinley Hogan rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs with 2 points apiece.

Belgreen 62, Cherokee 18 Belgreen opened up an overwhelming 19-0 lead in the first quarter leading to an easy 62-18 win over the Cherokee Indians.

Dakota Green led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Green was followed by Lillianna Willingham with 9 points, Bryn Scott 8 points, Makenna Fisher 6 points, Mackinley Hogan 4 points, Alayana Tate 4 points, Kiera Smith 3 points, and Carson Hovater 3 points.

Deshler 74, Belgreen 43 Lilliana Willingham scored 15 points in Belgreen’s 74-43 loss to the Deshler Tigers.
