‘God bless us, every one’

We Say

“It was always said of him that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim observed, God bless us, every one!”

So concludes the Charles Dickens’ classic, and so encapsulates our wish for you as this holiday season nears its apex.

Isn’t it hard to believe another Christmas has actually arrived?

People talk about something being “slow as Christmas” or “slower than Christmas” but in many ways Dec. 25 seems to arrive in a flash each year. One moment it’s jack-o’-lanterns; next minute it’s turkeys and pilgrims; and before you can hardly blink your eyes, we’re decking the halls and trimming the tree and wrapping presents – and, the next second, unwrapping those selfsame presents.

“The holiday season” has been full of merriment in our community this year. We hope you have had the opportunity to enjoy some of the festivities, whether attending a community Christmas parade or a school Christmas program or a show or light display or – well, the list goes on. To each of our readers and subscribers, we hope you have plans to get together with family or friends to celebrate, whether that celebration be a massive gathering or a simple, sweet moment of cheer. We wish a joyous time celebrating the holiday. May your days be merry and bright.

We have much to celebrate and be thankful for this year. We hope your holiday will be full of joy, peace and love. God bless us, every one.
