Fatal traffic crash occurs in Franklin County

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has reported a two-vehicle crash occurred around 4:55 p.m. on Oct. 31. Kenny R. Petty, 68, of Phil Campbell, was fatally injured when the 1992 Ford F-150 he was driving collided head-on with a 2022 Ram 2500 driven by Larry Davis, 63, of Pike Road.

After the initial collision, the Ford left the roadway, overturned and then struck a tree. The Dodge also left the roadway and struck a tree.

Petty was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was partially ejected. Petty was pronounced deceased at the scene. Davis and a passenger in the Ram 2500, Ronald K. Rollins, 57, of Montgomery, were both injured and transported to Russellville Hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama 243 near the 11-mile marker, approximately three miles east of Phil Campbell, in Franklin County. Nothing further is available as troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
