October’s bright blue weather highlights fall

My grandfather, Howard Camp, always loved October. When I was little, he had me memorize and often recite the poem “October’s Bright Blue Weather” by Helen Hunt Jackson. There’s a special blue sky that often visits in October, and I welcome it as an old friend I look forward to seeing each year.

It may sneak back in here and there during November, but its primary residency takes place within October. At times, October can be unseasonably hot, but it’s the familiar and more usual cooler temperatures I enjoy, calm and peaceful fall days, cooler temperatures and, perhaps, a light breeze. It always goes by far too fast. So, as the last couple of days of October are upon us, I say it’s not too late to make the most of it and enjoy October’s bright blue weather.
