Annual Walk to Wellness, Pumpkin Palooza events draw community downtown

This past Saturday, the annual GFWC Book Lovers Study Club’s 7th annual Walk to Wellness, an event for cancer awareness, fundraising and remembering lost friends and family took place. It was held this year in downtown Russellville instead of the Russellville High School stadium as was done in previous years. Funds from the event will go to help people in Franklin County. Part of the event included the Maudie and Roger Bedford 5K Race and one mile walk.

Also in downtown Russellville on Saturday, the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Pumpkin Palooza took place. Individuals, businesses and groups sponsored spots and decorated scarecrows. The scarecrows will remain up throughout the month. This year represents a return to familiar territory as the event began in downtown Russellville but was held in City Lake Park the last two years.

Look online and in next week’s paper for more photos from the event.
