Russellville softball team competes in Sardis Invitational

APRIL 8-14, 2024:

The Russellville varsity softball team continued regular season action with a busy week on the diamond. The Lady Golden Tigers are 18-15-1 on the season after hosting Mars Hill and then participating in the Sardis Invitational at the Sand Mountain Sports Park over the weekend.

Mars Hill 7, Russellville 5

A five-run fifth inning helped Mars Hill defeat RHS April 8. Russellville tried for a late rally with two seventh inning runs but came up short.

Paislee James and Brooklyn Butler had two hits each for RHS. Butler had two RBI and Emma Campbell had a hit and two RBI. Addison Holcomb, Ticelee Gholston and Khristyan Huerta also hit safely. James pitched four innings and Jacey Moore was in the circle for three innings.

Sardis 7, Russellville 4

The Sardis Invitational got underway April 12 with the Lady Lions defeating Russellville in a six-inning game.

Emma Campbell had a triple and two RBI, and Jemma Moore added a double and one RBI. Bryleigh Butler, Holcomb and Huerta added hits and Jacey Moore added one RBI. Moore also did the pitching for Russellville.

West Limestone 7, Russellville 2

Russellville fell in six innings during game two of the night April 12 in the Sardis Invitational.

The Lady Golden Tigers got two hits. Holcomb doubled and had both RBI and Gholston picked up a single. Brooklyn Butler was the RHS pitcher.

Russellville 6, Sand Rock 1

Day two at the Sardis Invitational got off to a winning start for Russellville with a six-inning victory over Sand Rock.

Bryleigh Butler, Jemma Moore and Ticelee Gholston had two hits each. Holcomb, Huerta, Jacey Moore and Campbell also hit safely. Bryleigh Butler, Holcomb and Jemma Moore had RBI. James pitched for Russellville, allowing no earned runs and three hits. The senior struck out six and walked none.

Russellville 4, Huntsville 3

Play continued April 13 with a Russellville win over the Huntsville Crimson Panthers in the Sardis Invitational.

Jacey Moore struck out 13 batters for RHS during the six-inning game. James, Holcomb and Campbell all had two hits each. Holcomb had two RBI, while James and Campbell had one RBI apiece.

Sardis 8, Russellville 1

The Sardis Invitational came to a close for RHS April 13 with another game against the Lady Lions.

Russellville had two hits from Bryleigh Butler and one each from Holcomb and Campbell during the seven-inning contest. James pitched three innings and Brooklyn Butler pitched four for RHS.
