Belgreen student signs with Blue Mountain

Belgreen’s Alex Guidry signed a baseball scholarship with Blue Mountain College. Guidry has a 3.56 earned run average through 84 innings from his freshman year to his junior year. Last year, he had a batting average of .328 and was second on the team in base hits and runs batted in.

“Alex has worked really hard over the past couple of years in order for him to have an opportunity to play at the next level,” said his coach Nathan Vincent. “He has started for me since the seventh grade and has improved every year. He has been a staple for us on the mound the last three years.”

As a freshman, Guidry pitched in the second and third game of the first round of playoffs at Valley Head and closed out the third game to help Belgreen advance to the second round, an accomplishment which hadn’t happened in 30 years. He relieved Will King who was also a freshman at the time who gave the Bulldogs five great innings.

“That was big for us,” said Vincent. “Especially with two ninth graders on the mound.”
