Expect closures for U.S. 43 at Walmart

The Alabama Department of Transportation advises motorists to expect lane closures
for improvements on U.S. 43 at Walmart in Russellville beginning Tuesday, May 30.

One to two lanes at a time will be closed for pavement removal and concrete paving at the intersection. Work is anticipated to take about a month.

Carcel and G is the contractor on the $2,085,619 project, which includes recent improvements at U.S. 72 and Woodmont Drive in Tuscumbia, and later this summer, improvements to Alabama 33 at Court Street in Moulton.

Due to wear from heavy truck traffic at these locations, some sections of pavement are being converted to concrete to increase their durability and reduce maintenance.
