Belgreen, Red Bay, Russellville boys advance

Belgreen, Red Bay and Russellville boys all won their opening round games of the area tournament, and all three will advance to the finals Friday night.

Phil Campbell lost a heartbreaker in overtime. Tharptown lost to Tanner, and Vina lost to Belgreen, bringing their seasons to an end.

Belgreen beat Vina 74-15. Belgreen will host Phillips Thursday at 5 p.m. for the Class 1A, Area 14, title.  

Red Bay beat Lamar county 62-39. Red Bay will play Aliceville at Aliceville Friday at 6 p.m. for the Class 2A, Area 10, title.

Russellville beat West Point 58-45. Russellville will play Lawrence County at Lawrence County Friday night at 7 p.m. for the Class 5A, Area 15 title. 

All three teams automatically advance to subregion play next Tuesday. Area winners will host the subregion game. Area runners-up will travel in subregion play.
