Belgreen softball notches wins

The Franklin County Tournament wasn’t the only action this past week for Franklin County softball teams.

Blackburn no-hits Tharptown

Red Bay’s Lila Blackburn was in a zone in the circle, throwing a no-hitter against area rival Tharptown this past week in a 10-0 shutout.

Blackburn fanned 13 batters and gave up two walks in five innings of action.

The Tigers got a big game from the middle of the lineup.

Sarah Eaton had two doubles and two RBIs and scored a run. Georgia Inman had two hits, including a double, two RBIs and scored twice.

Emma McCollister had two hits, including a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Chloe Knoblock had two RBIs and scored a run, while Macy Faulkner had two hits and scored a run.

Belgreen 10, Hackleburg 1

The Bulldog girls coasted to an easy area victory over the Hackleburg Panthers 10-1.

Hackleburg led 1-0 after the first inning, but from there the Bulldogs scored three in the second, one run in the third, one run in the fourth and five runs in the fifth in the runaway.

Madison Vandiver had two doubles and scored two runs. Hannah Borden had a hit and two RBIs and scored a run. Noelle Willingham had two hits and an RBI and scored a run.

Emma Dempsey allowed two hits and two walks and struck out 11 for Belgreen.

Belgreen 13, Waterloo 2

The Belgreen Bulldogs had an easy win over Waterloo, 13-2.

Belgreen led from the start. The Bulldogs led 4-2 after the second inning before adding nine insurance runs over the next three innings.

Katie Cooper led the Bulldogs from the bottom of the lineup. Emmie Scott got two hits and five RBIs and scored a run. She had a three-run triple in the third inning.

Cooper led off the scoring for Belgreen with a two-run homerun in the second inning.
