RHS senior clinches spot in Alabama-Mississippi game

Russellville High School senior offensive lineman Edgar Amaya has been chosen to participate in the 34th Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Football Classic.

The annual football game, scheduled to take place this year Dec. 12 at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, features top senior players from the two states.

Amaya is listed as a 6-foot-4, 320-pound offensive lineman in the 2021 class. He was committed to playing college football for Kansas but has recently reopened his recruitment.

He joins Chucky Mullins, Cedric Gholston, Colin Sears, Tony Bonds, Kevin Sears, Taz Tillery, Michael Abernathy and Brent Calloway as Golden Tigers who have been named to the Alabama roster over the years.

Steve Mask of St. Paul’s Episcopal School in Mobile will be the head coach of the Alabama squad this year. Alabama holds a 22-11 advantage over Mississippi in the game’s history.
