Belgreen baseball sweeps Cherokee

The Belgreen Bulldogs baseball team picked up a sweep of the Cherokee Indians last week.

In game one, Belgreen shut out Cherokee 7-0 with pitcher Jackson Galliano striking out 11 batters and giving up two hits.

Most of the Bulldogs’ runs came on walks by Indian pitching, but Jacob Gere had two RBIs, and Jacob Fleming scored three runs.

In game two, Belgreen posted an even bigger blowout of the Indians, winning 17-1.  Belgreen tallied six runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by the Bulldogs was led by Canaan Stough, Bryant Hubbert, Carson Cox and Brady Hovater, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Stough got the win for the Bulldogs, pitching three innings and allowing one hit and no runs while striking out seven with no walks.

Hovater led Belgreen with two hits in three at-bats.
