Homefolks U.S.A.

Hi folks,

Monday, May 27, was the day we set aside for Memorial Day – the day we remember the American servicemembers who have died in armed conflict. It became an official federal holiday in 1971.

The day was originally known as Decoration Day.

In the year 2000, Americans were asked to pause at 3 p.m. to observe a moment of remembrance. Everyone who displays a flag is asked to fly the flag at half-staff.

So many people in Franklin County served our country, and many paid the ultimate sacrifice. On the USS Missouri the treaty was signed to end World War II. Just a short distance away, the USS Arizona was at the bottom of the ocean, and oil still can be seen coming from this ship even today. The sinking of this ship, the USS Arizona, triggered the beginning of World War II. So many brave people have always been ready to defend this country, and for that we should all be very thankful.

Maybe we should all bow our heads and say a prayer for the freedom we enjoy in this country, and let us never take for granted the many blessings God has bestowed upon us – one of those being that we are able to live in the great country we call the United States.

We see so many people who show no respect, and I think that it’s a terrible shame. I hope and pray this group of people will never attempt to rid this country of the many friends we have.

It’s up to each one of us to see that this group of revels never succeeds in their attempt to destroy what so many have given to help us remain free.

That you for reading.

Til next time,

Your friend,

Bobby

Thought for the Day

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friend (John 15:13 NIV).
