PCHS hosts Alumni Day
Parents and students alike are gearing up all across the county for the start of the new school year, but there are also those celebrating the school days of years gone by.
Phil Campbell Alumni Day has been set for Aug. 5 in the PCHS lunchroom. It is open to all PCHS alumni, including the Class of 2018.
“A lot of older class members come and have a really good time,” association president Lynn Landers said.
The program and meal will commence at noon, immediately after church services end. Landers said barbecue plates will be sold for $10, and each alumnus is asked to bring a dessert to accompany the meal.
Landers said the turnout is usually anywhere between 40-100 people.
“I have a huge collection of old annuals that I bring, and they love to look at them,” she said.
Donations will be accepted the day of the luncheon to cover its cost and the cost of future reunions.
Thanks to donations made by PCHS alumni, two senior students have been awarded $500 scholarships. These cash scholarships are for students who plan on attending Northwest-Shoals Community College. Carly Weeks and Joseph Hardy are this year’s recipients.
