NW-SCC names scholarship winners

The following students are among Northwest-Shoals Community College scholarship winners.

  • Rachel Griffin, of Russellville, received a performing arts A senior at Russellville High School, Griffin is a member of musical theater and was the Gingy/Sugar Plum Fairy in “Shrek the Musical Jr.” While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in fine arts. She is the daughter of Tim and Christa Griffin.
  • Austin Balding, of Russellville, received a performing arts A senior at Russellville High School, Balding is a member of Christian Students United, Spanish Club, Drama Club, Future Farmers of America, Honors Choir and the RHS Marching 100. While at NW-SCC, he will pursue an associate’s degree. He is the son of David and Dana Balding.
  • Wesley Allen Cook, of Tuscumbia, received a performing arts A senior at Russellville High School, Cook is a member of RHS Marching 100, jazz band, acapella ensemble, show choir, Drama Club, FFA, Annual Staff and FBLA and attended HOBY Leadership. While at NW-SCC, he will pursue a degree in poultry science. He is the son of Mark and Vickey Cook.
  • Elizabeth Anne Jenkins, of Russellville, received an academic A senior at Russellville High School, Jenkins is a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and the History Club. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in education. She is the daughter of Dr. Jerry A. Jenkins II and Mrs. Brooke A. Jenkins.
  • James Peyton Bolton, of Russellville, received an academic A senior at Russellville High School, Bolton is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, FFA (treasurer), National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and Christians Students United and is a volunteer at Russellville Animal Clinic. While at NW-SCC, he will pursue a degree in aeronautical engineering. He is the son of Lance and Sherri Randolph.
  • Destiny Cooper, of Russellville, received a performing arts scholarship. A senior at Russellville High School, Cooper is a member of event planning, acapella ensemble, advanced chorus and musical theatre. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in music. She is the daughter of Alicia Cooper.
  • Emma Henderson, of Mount Hope, received an academic A senior at Tharptown High School, Henderson is a member of the robotics team, National Honor Society, Senior Class Reporter and STEM Club and is Future Business Leaders of America vice president. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in biosystems engineering. She is the daughter of Jonathan and Misty Henderson.
  • Stephanie Fuentes-Salvador, of Russellville, received an applied technology A senior at Russellville High School, Fuentes-Salvador is a member of National Honor Society, Senior Class officer, cheerleader, track and field, cross country, Mu Alpha Theta Club, American History Honors Club, Family Career Community Leaders of America, Key Club, Art Club, FFA, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Chemistry Club, Art Club and Cosmetology Club and was named homecoming queen. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in criminal justice. She is the daughter of Manuela Salvador and Reynaldo Fuentes.
  • Brianna Denise Weeks, of Russellville, received an Academic A senior at Russellville High School, Weeks is a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Student Booster Club Officer and has a Certified Nursing Assistant certification. While at NW-SCC, Weeks will pursue a degree in nursing. She is the daughter of Gene and Shona Weeks.
  • Linda Bahena, of Russellville, received an Academic A senior at Tharptown High School, Bahena is a member of National Honor Society, Student Government Association (president), History Honor Society, Franklin County Math Team, Homecoming Queen, Junior Civitan, SADD Club, Yearbook Club, FBLA, STEM Club, Spanish Club and Robotics Team. She is the daughter of Gerardo and Yesica Bahena. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in mathematics.
  • Cameron Vandiver, of Russellville, received a College Bowl A senior at Russellville High School, Vandiver is a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, American History Honors Club, Scholars Bowl and Student Council. He is the son of Melisa Vandiver. While at NW-SCC, he will pursue a degree in pharmacy.
  • Valeria Vela, of Russellville, received a salutatorian A senior at Tharptown High School, Vela is a member of the History Honor Society, Student Government Association, National Honor Society, Franklin County Math Team, Yearbook, STEM Club, Robotics Team, FBLA, SADD and Spanish Club. She is the daughter of Angelica Astrain and Antonio Vela. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in physical therapy.
  • Camron Jarnigan, of Russellville, received an applied technology A senior at Belgreen High School, Camron is a member of robotics, baseball and track teams as well as History Club and SADD. He is the son of Randy and Karla Jarnigan. While at NW-SCC, he will pursue a degree in drafting.
  • Cortny Williams, of Russellville, received a valedictorian A senior at Belgreen High School, Williams is a member of softball, SADD, History Club, Math Club, FBLA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Society of High School Scholars and Beta Club and attended Alabama Girls State. She is the daughter of Timmy and Annette Williams. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in elementary education.
  • Carmen Perez, of Russellville, received an applied technology A senior at Russellville High School, Perez is a member of the National Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta and soccer team. She is the daughter of Rocia Perez. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in dental hygiene.
  • Allyson Deras, of Spruce Pine, received an applied technology A senior at Russellville High School, Deras is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Health Occupations Students of America, Science Club, Art Club, Library Media Club, Chemistry Club, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, Students Against Destructive Decisions and Future Educators of America. She is the daughter of Fabiola Ruiz. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in science.
  • Jarrod Lasseter, of Russellville, received a College Bowl A senior at Russellville High School, Lasseter is a member of the History Club, Booster Club and High School Scholars Bowl. He is the son of Delinda Lasseter. While at NW-SCC, he will pursue a degree in history.
  • Chloe Denise Roberson, of Spruce Pine, received an academic A senior at Phil Campbell High School, Roberson is a member of National Honor Society, SADD, Yearbook, Access Club, FCCLA, History Club, Student Council (president) and Homecoming court. She is the daughter of Scotty and Sonia Roberson. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in dental hygiene.
  • Anna Brooke Garrison, of Russellville, received a salutatorian A senior at Phil Campbell High School, Garrson is a member of varsity cheerleading, National Honor Society, salutation, Homecoming Court, Yearbook, Junior Civitan and FCCLA. She is the daughter of Danna and Lyle Garrison. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in occupational therapy assistant.
  • Kirstin LaShae Wilson, of Phil Campbell, received an ambassador A senior at Phillips High School, Wilson is a member of Beta Club, Student Government Association, Talent Search and Talent Search Leadership Team. She is the daughter of Bradley and Brandy Wilson. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in business.
  • Leslie Magaly Garcia, of Russellville, received an academic A senior at Russellville High School, Garcia is a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Student Booster Club, Chemistry Club, Spanish Club, Cosmetology Club and Library Media Club and winner of the Presidents Award for Educational Achievement. She is the daughter of Wendy Magaly Figueroa. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in interior design.
  • Payton Tucker Scott, of Russellville, received an academic A senior at Belgreen High School, Scott is a member of the basketball team, All County/All-Area basketball, baseball team, varsity track team, Junior/Senior Beta Club, FBLA, FCA, History Club, Math Club, SADD and HOSA. He is the son of Chris and Andrea Scott. While at NW-SCC, he will pursue a degree in physical therapy.
  • Brooke Brown, of Hodges, received an academic A senior at Vina High School, Brown is a member of FBLA, Beta Club, National Honor Society, Yearbook Staff and softball. She is the daughter of Stanley Brown and Joy Brown. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in multimedia art and animation.
  • Madison Hargett, of Russellville, received an academic A senior at Russellville High School, Hargett is a member of National Honor Society, cheer squad, varsity basketball, Family Career and Community Leaders of America, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Future Business Leaders of America, Educators Rising, Key Club, Christian Students United, Student Booster Club, Spanish Club, Science Club and Special Olympics. She is the daughter of Chris and Paige Hargett. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in early childhood education.
  • Karley Ergle, of Phil Campbell, received an academic A senior at Phil Campbell High School, Ergle is a member of National Honor Society (secretary), FCCLA, Student Council, Junior Civitan, History Club, SADD Club, ACCESS Club, Yearbook Staff and varsity softball. She is the daughter of Waylon and Michelle Ergle. While at NW-SCC, she will pursue a degree in education.
  • Zarek Barnett, of Hamilton, received a performing arts A senior at Vina High School, Barnett is a member of FCA, basketball team and Junior Civitan. He is the son of Mark and Deborah Barnett. While at NW-SCC, he will pursue a degree in occupational therapy.
