Three Franklin County basketball players earned all-state honors from the Alabama Sports Writers Association.

Phil Campbell junior Abby Davis earned second-team all-state honors in class 2A. Davis helped lead the Bobcats to the semifinals of the 2A state tournament for the first time since 1987.

Davis was the Bobcats’ leading scorer (averaging 14 points per game), and rebounder (averaging seven rebounds per game) and blocked 40 shots.

Two big men also earned second team all-state honors: Red Bay’s Gath Weatherford in class 2A and Belgreen’s Mason Bragwell in class 1A.

Weatherford helped lead Red Bay to the Northwest Regionals for the first time since 1995. He averaged 16.5 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game for the Tigers.

Bragwell helped lead Belgreen to the Bulldogs’ second consecutive Northwest Regional appearance. Bragwell averaged 18.4 points per game and 7.9 rebounds per game and blocked 48 shots.
