Homefolks U.S.A.

Hi folks,

We can almost see that springtime is just around the corner. The buttercups are blooming, the Bradford Pear trees are in full bloom, and the tulip trees are beginning to put out a lot of beautiful blooms.

I know that we should enjoy every season of the year, but the winter of 2018 has not been a good one for me. I know that the spring will be great, though; I really look forward to this new season of the year.

Last week one of my favorite people passed from this life after a long struggle with health issues, Mrs. Doris Andrews. She was my sister-in-law, and I have so many great memories of her and her late husband, Kenneth. Holidays were a real treat, and we all looked forward to spending some quality time with the Andrews family.

We still have those good memories, and they will always remain with us. Our deepest condolences go out to the remaining members of this family.

It was wonderful to have a friend from Florence return to our business last week and make a nice purchase from us. They made the remark, “We love coming to Russellville and especially to Bolton’s.” I assure you, the feeling was mutual, and the business was certainly appreciated.

We invite all of our good customers and friends to visit with us. Their presence always makes our day. We share stores from long ago, and we consider everyone a member of our family. I always remind them that we are still here because of the repeat business we receive from our old customers.

I hope the future will bring a lot of new business to our area, and we can see real progress in Franklin County. A few weeks ago, a customer told me that, of the many schools that were located in Franklin County, most were junior high schools. I was surprised to know that so many did exist and the positive impact each one had on our community. I am sure that many closed when the numbers began to fall short, and the larger schools began to take over, but still we all have vivid memories of what these schools did and the positive impact each had on the community.

Many of our communities are making plans for the upcoming festivals that will be taking place real soon. This is a time when we meet and visit with friends from years gone by. I hope each community continues to promote the festivals, so they will be larger each year.

May 10 Angela Hacker will be appearing at the Roxy Theater along with the Kerry Gilbert Band. I’m sure this will be a great event, and we hope everyone will make plans to attend. It promises to be a night of good clean entertainment. Hope to see you there.

Til next time,

Your friend,

Bobby

Thought for the Day

Of all the works of tongues and pen, the saddest of all: “it might have been.”
