FC special-called meeting precedes work session

Feb. 12 the Franklin County Commission held a special-called meeting at 4:30 p.m. prior to the regularly scheduled work session at 5 p.m. The special-called meeting had two items on the agenda.

Chairman Barry Moore made a couple of special comments before addressing the two agenda items. He announced the RC&D is hosting a meeting at The Bricks Feb. 21 starting at 10 a.m., and the Franklin County Partnership Banquet will be held March 15.

The first item on the agenda was the approval for the chairman to sign an amended tax abatement for Road Gear and the resolution reflecting the changes of the amendment. The amendment separated tax abatements for Franklin Industrial Properties, which consists of the land and the building, and Road Gear Trucking Equipment, which consists of the new nonmanufacturing equipment. The total capital investment also increases from $3.09 million to $3.53 million.

An ATRIP invoice from Joe Keenum Excavation and Construction in Muscle Shoals made up the second item on the agenda. The invoice covers the resurfacing and striping of County Road 11 from the Bear Creek Bridge north of Red Bay to the junction of County Road 15. In total the project will cost $516,625, but the county’s part of the payment will be $103,325.

Both items on the agenda were approved with no opposition.
