May 2018 bring great things for Franklin

One of the most interesting annual features we do here, in my opinion, is our Year in Review, in which we recap 52 weeks of Franklin County news. It’s always so interesting to look back on the year and realize all the many events and changes that have taken place.

For our official Year in Review, we try to select the biggest stories, those that had the most impact on FC communities. It’s hard to choose, when so much has happened here over the past 365 days.

One caveat, of course, is that a story doesn’t have to be hard-hitting or earth changing to be a really good story. Some of my personal favorites didn’t make it to the Year in Review. A few of my choice in top headlines from the previous year are:

Sister honors brother Phil Campbell with visit to town sharing his name (Jan. 4).
·      Morrow proposes Rails to Trails site from Red Bay to Haleyville (Feb. 1).
·      Brightening spirits (Feb. 1).
·      Eyes on industry (Feb. 15).
·      Agriculture awe (March 1).
·      In loving memory (March 29).
·      Pig Squeal teaches hog management, marketing to youth (April 12).
·      Brothers drum for DCI band (May 3).
·      A meeting with POTUS (May 10).
·      Ready on the runway (June 6).
·      Swamp John’s vies for best catfish restaurant (July 12).
·      Quilt trail adds two Franklin County barns (Aug. 30).
·      Choreographing Christmas (Sept. 13).
I loved taking a minute to reflect back on some of these great stories, just a few of many from this year in Franklin County. I’m sure 2018 will bring even more.
There’s a lot I’m looking forward to in my personal life for 2018, but professionally I’m also eagerly anticipating another wonderful year. I know the coming weeks and months will bring more changes and more excitement to our county – and I can’t wait to learn about it and share it with you.
