Tigers stay undefeated in area play

The Red Bay Tigers improved to 9-3 overall and stayed undefeated in their area (3-0) after beating Sulligent 51-44 last week.

Gath Weatherford knocked down 22 points, including seven in the fourth quarter, to help lead the Tigers past the Blue Devils.

Red Bay led Sulligent 13-6 at the end of the first quarter, but Sulligent cut the Tigers’ lead to four points at halftime, 24-20. Sulligent chipped away at Red Bay’s lead even more in the third quarter cutting it to 35-32.  Red Bay outscored Sulligent 16-12 in the fourth quarter to get the win.

Colton Corum (9 points), Braden Ray (8), Clay Allison (4), Peyton Green (4), Jalen Vinson (3) and Hunter Bays (1) all scored for Red Bay.

Red Bay 52, Hamilton 37

Weatherford and Allison combined for 39 points to help lead Red Bay past the Hamilton Aggies, 53-37.

Red Bay jumped out to a 13-3 first quarter lead before Hamilton stormed back to cut the Tigers’ lead to 23-19 at halftime. Red Bay extended the lead to 31-26 in the third quarter and pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Aggies 21-11.

Weatherford led the Tigers with 22 points. Allison followed with 17 points. Ray finished the game with six points, Corum with five points and Vinson with two points.

Red Bay 61, Tremont 48

Weatherford scored 25 points to help Red Bay beat Tremont last week, 61-48.

The Tigers outscored Tremont 15-7 in the first quarter and 15-8 in the second quarter to take a 30-15 halftime lead. Red Bay led 43-31 at the end of the third quarter before claiming the victory.

Ray and Allison scored 10 points each for Red Bay. Bays (5), Noah Brewer (4), Green (4) and Zac Humphries (3) also scored for the Tigers.

Belmont (Miss.) 47, Red Bay 44

The Red Bay Tigers took their only loss last week from state-line rival Belmont.

Red Bay led Belmont 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. Belmont, however, outscored Red Bay 8-3 in the second quarter and 18-13 in the third quarter to take a 33-30 lead into the fourth quarter. The game was deadlocked throughout the fourth quarter, with Belmont hanging on for the win.

Corum led Red Bay with 18 points. Weatherford added eight points. Bays (7), Ray (7), Vinson (2) and Allison (2) also scored for the Tigers.

B-Varsity Boys

Red Bay 47, Hamilton 40

Down by six points to start the final period of play, the Red Bay Tigers scored 22 points in the fourth quarter to secure a 47-40 come-from-behind win over the Hamilton Aggies.

Tanner Hamilton led Red Bay with 18 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter. Lane Shewbart added 11 points and Hunter Burks 10 points.

Sulligent 42, Red Bay 35

The Sulligent Blue Devils bested the Red Bay Tigers B-Varsity team 42-35 last week. Hamilton led Red Bay with 12 points.
