Tharptown T.R.A.C.K.S. students learn from special guest
The Tharptown T.R.A.C.K.S. students and their parents had a special guest to visit them recently. In honor of his birthday, Johnny Appleseed came to share his story with the families enrolled in the afterschool program at Tharptown Elementary School.
Prior to his visit the students enjoyed a variety of apple-related activities. Participants learned all about apples and had snacks made from apples.
Johnny Appleseed read to the audience and explained how he came to spread not only apple seeds across the nation to feed the poor but also spread lessons about good character and goodwill. He had a great love of God, country, people and, of course, apples.
Johnny Appleseed was portrayed by retired Tharptown teacher Marqueta Prince.
