‘The Great Pretenders’ to perform at Roxy July 27
The Franklin County Arts Council is sponsoring the 17th annual “Evening at the Roxy” Friday, with entertainment presented by local talent featured as “The Great Pretenders” July 27 at 7 p.m.
“Each year the W. C. Handy Festival grows larger,” said arts council’s Susie Malone. “It brings people from all over the state as well as from other states to northwest Alabama. This event promotes the tourism in our area and helps our local economy.”
Numerous local entertainers will take the stage, including Konner Bendall, Hailey Peters, Alissa Young, Dana Hill, Jayne Wells, Chase Holland, Kaydee Holland, Ashley Cummins, Angela Townsel, Kelli Roberson, Anna Beth and Laura Oliver, Kelly Copeland, C. R. Hood, Sydney Medley, Hudson Copeland, Gary Cummings, Ella West, Tammy West and Danyelle Hillman, as well as the “Still Here Gospel Group” consisting of Larry Freeman, the Rev. William Freeman, Jack Freeman, James Suggs, Lavert King, William Nelson, Wash Bates, Eric Goodloe, Willie Buchanan, Bryan Bonds and other entertainers.
Katernia Cole-Coffey will serve as emcee for the evening.
All proceeds go to the Historic Roxy Theatre. Tickets ($5; children under 6 are free) will be sold at the door. Several local businesses, industries and individuals support this program by sponsorships.
