Village at Oliver Place wins housing award

The Village at Oliver Place was recently honored as the 2015 Excellence in Affordable Housing project by the Low Income Housing Coalition of Alabama at the Housing Works! Conference in Orange Beach.
The Village at Oliver Place was constructed in response to the devastation of the April 2011 tornadoes in Franklin County to address the need for affordable housing in Phil Campbell after the storms destroyed one third of the homes in the area.
A project that resulted from partnership among Community Action Partnership of North Alabama, the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, and the town of Phil Campbell, The Village at Oliver Place officially opened in January of this year as a 24-unit townhouse complex that features an on-site office and clubhouse, gazebo, playground, picnic area, laundry facility, exercise room plus a computer room and available wireless Internet.
The complex comprises 12 three-bedroom units and 12 two-bedroom units, including two single-story units that are ADA accessible. Residents at the multi-family housing complex must be income-eligible based on federal poverty guidelines. Monthly rent is a fixed rate for all residents, regardless of qualifying income. Units are still available for those who are interested.
