Chamber keepsake features Hodges equestrian park
Rock Bridge Canyon Equestrian Park keepsakes are $15 and are available the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce.
Rock Bridge Canyon Equestrian Park has been immortalized in a keepsake Christmas ornament, and anyone can have one of these souvenirs for their very own.
The 2015 Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Keepsake features the park as the fourth in a series of ornaments designed to commemorate county landmarks.
“I love it. It is beautiful. I’m so honored that they chose Rock Bridge Canyon Equestrian Park this year for the keepsake,” said RBCEP activities coordinator Tina Lawler.
The ornament costs $15. Previous years’ ornaments have featured the old courthouse, the Roxy Theatre and Northwest-Shoals Community College.
Chamber director Cassie Medley said the canyon made perfect sense as a featured locale for this year.
“For their first couple of years in business, they have attracted all kinds of people to the area – thousands, or tens of thousands,” Medley said. “This is a good way to celebrate the canyon.”
The pewter ornaments came into being, Medley said, as a way to say thank you to chamber members, to “give them a little piece of history.” When interest in the unique keepsakes spread beyond chamber members, Medley said they decided to also offer the ornaments for sale to the public.
The keepsakes are available at the chamber in limited supply. Medley and Lawler said they make great gifts – Lawler intends to buy several herself as gifts for her grandchildren, to help preserve her own legacy with the equestrian park.
“You should definitely go by the Chamber and purchase one. It would be beautiful on anybody’s tree,” Lawler said.
