Fred Richardine Vernon, 93, of Russellville, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at his residence.

Mr. Vernon was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and a member of the Church of Christ.  He was retired with 30 years of service as a rural mail carrier at the Russellville Post Office, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force with the rank of sergeant.

The funeral service was Friday, July 31, 2015, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville. Mike Morrow and Johnny Richardson officiated. Burial was in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.  The family will received friends at the funeral home on Friday, until service time.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Vernon; children, Stanley Vernon and wife, Gloria, Amory, Miss., Carol Hubbard, Jackie Howell and Doug Vernon, all of Russellville; step-son, Neal Burleson, Hackleburg; grandchildren, April Hubbard and Jason Howell; step-grandchild, Brannon Burleson; and step-great-grandchild, Ava Burleson; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Annie Vernon; first wife, Agnes Scruggs Vernon; and ten brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Mark Williams, Tim Bishop, Jeff Harbin, Charles Rickard, Tim Williams and Jason Gist.

Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Seay and Bob Hamilton.
