Students earn UNA scholarships

The following students have recently received scholarships from the University of North Alabama:
– Erin Benton Masterson, of Russellville, has been awarded a Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship by the University of North Alabama.
A graduate of Russellville High School, Masterson attended Northwest-Shoals Community College. While at Northwest-Shoals Community College, she received the following honors: elected Miss Northwest-Shoals 2015 and elected as a member of “Who’s Who.”
Masterson’s student involvement at Northwest-Shoals Community College included Northwest-Shoals Ambassador Vice President Student Government Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
An incoming junior at UNA, Masterson is the daughter of Greg and Kathy Masterson.

– Bailey LeeAnn Clark, of Russellville, has been awarded a Vanguard and Leadership Scholarship by the University of North Alabama. An incoming freshman at UNA, Clark is the daughter of Mattie and Jud Clark.

– Taylor D. Pace, of Phil Campbell, has been awarded a UNA Vanguard Scholarship by the University of North Alabama.
Pace received the following honors while at Phil Campbell High School: Valedictorian, Homecoming Queen, National Honor Society, Prom Queen, Dream Girl Queen, Basketball Most Valuable Player, Who’s Who Most Intelligent. Her student involvement at Phil Campbell High School included: Future Business Leaders of America; Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America; 4-H Club; Junior Civitan; Students Against Destructive Decisions; Student Council; and Varsity Basketball.
An incoming freshman at UNA, Pace is the daughter of Kevin and Dalana Pace.

– Bethany M. Sparks, of Phil Campbell, has been awarded an Academic Scholarship by the University of North Alabama. A graduate of Phil Campbell High School, Sparks attended NWSCC. While at NWSCC, she received the following honors: Math 098 highest grade point average, Math 100 highest grade point average and History 102 highest grade point average. An incoming freshman at UNA, Sparks is the daughter of James and Sharon Sparks.

– Kennedy Blayke Palmer, of Russellville, has been awarded a Vanguard Scholarship by the University of North Alabama. Palmer received the following honors while at Russellville High School: Young Leaders of America recipient and Future Leaders of America recipient.
Her student involvement at Russellville High School included: All-American Cheerleader, peer helper, peer mediator, Heath Occupation Students of America, SADD, Christian Students United, Crime Cats, FCCLA, FBLA, Key Club, Library and Media Club and Spanish Club.
An incoming freshman at UNA, Palmer is the daughter of Tim and Mendy Palmer.

– Stacey Lee Putman, of Russellville, has been awarded a Vanguard Scholarship by the University of North Alabama. Putman received the following honors while at Russellville: National Honor Society, Mu Aloha Theta, and Certified Nursing Assistant. Her student involvement at Russellville included: president of Family Career and Community Leaders of America.
An incoming freshman at UNA, Putman is the daughter of Stan and Sonya Clement.

– Cory John Cheek, of Phil Campbell, has been awarded a Vanguard Scholarship by the University of North Alabama. Cheek received the following honors while at Phil Campbell High School: Boys’ State Senator Football Captain; Academic Award, Algebra II, third place; Franklin County Tourney, Spanish II Award.
His student involvement at Phil Campbell High School included: Student Council, president JAG, president FBLA, National Honor Society and Junior Civitan.
An incoming freshman at UNA, Cheek is the son of Kevin Cheek of Phil Campbell and Michelle Cheek of Guin.

– Daniel J. Wooten, of Red Bay, has been awarded a Vanguard Scholarship for UNA. An incoming freshman at UNA, Wooten is the son of Paula Jackson and David Wooten.

– Morgan Nicole Willingham, of Russellville, has been awarded a Vanguard Scholarship by the University of North Alabama. An incoming freshman at UNA, Willingham is the daughter of Derrick and Kari Willingham.
