Northwest-Shoals Community College recognizes local students
These students have been recognized by Northwest-Shoals Community College for their achievements.
– Kaylee Saarinen, Phil Campbell, received an Academic Scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. She graduated from Hamilton High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and a cheerleader. Saarinen is the daughter of Bobby Saarinen and Christal Howard. Her grandparents are Steve and Frances Saarinen and Ollie and Kim Howard. While at Northwest-Shoals, she will pursue a degree in dental hygiene.
– Kyle Abram Kelton, Golden, Miss., received an Applied Technology Scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. He graduated from Red Bay High School, where he placed in several area Welding Competitions. Kelton is the son of Micheal and Rebekah Kelton. His grandparents are Paul and Faye Kelton. While at Northwest-Shoals, he will pursue a degree in welding technology.
– Hannah Louann Baggett, Hodges, received a Salutatorian Scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. She graduated from Vina High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and Leo Club, as well as basketball, softball and track and field javelin/discus/shot put teams. She was also president of Future Business Leaders of America and treasurer of the Student Government Association. She is the daughter of David and Donna Baggett. Her grandparents are Mamie and the late Grady Baggett and the late Gene and Barbara Clanton.
While at Northwest-Shoals, Baggett will pursue a degree in business administration.
– Michael Rice, Russellville, received a performing arts scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. He graduated from Tharptown High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, Franklin County Junior Leadership, Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, chorus, and the football, baseball, and basketball teams. He is also the recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Rice is the son of Amy and Sammy McCluskey and Mike and Jackie Rice. His grandparents are Phillip and Deborah Hayes and Pete and Trish Colburn. While at Northwest-Shoals, he will pursue a degree in secondary education.
– Madelyn Elise Price, Russellville, received an academic scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. She graduated from Russellville High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, annual staff, newspaper staff, Christian Students United, Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America and Spanish Club. She was also co-editor of the yearbook. She is the daughter of Trent and Amy Vandiver and Todd Price. Her grandparents are Alice Vandiver, Billie Fay Price, Gary and Claudette Vandiver, Donald Jackson, and Arnold and Nancy Evans.
– Lesley Gonzalez, Russellville, received an academic scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. She graduated from Russellville High School, where she was a member of the marching band, Robotics Club and the Team America Rocketry Challenge. She is the daughter of Osvaldo Gonzalez and Guadalupe Vidal. Her grandparents are Alfredo Vidal Exiga and Eva Zulema Rivera Vidal. While at Northwest-Shoals, Gonzalez will pursue a degree in aerospace engineering.
– Jacob Wallace, Russellville, received an applied technology scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College, where he will serve as an Ambassador. He graduated from Russellville High School, where he was a member of the Franklin County Junior Leadership, National Honor Society, Chemistry Club, Future Business Leaders of America, RHS Singers, RHS Small Ensemble, Christian Students United, Tiger Vision Technical Team and Spanish Club. He is the son of Wade and Courtney Wallace. His grandparents are Curtis and Donna Wallace and Ronnie and Hilda Nichelson. While at Northwest-Shoals, Wallace will pursue his goal of becoming a physical therapy assistant.
– Fredys Omar Ordonez, Phil Campbell, received an applied technology scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. He graduated from Phil Campbell High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and Vice President of Health Occupations Students of America. Ordonez is the son of Anastrid C. Argueta and Jose A. Ordonez. While at Northwest-Shoals, he will pursue a degree in electrical technology.
– Hayden Quinton Bell, Russellville, received an academic scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. He graduated from Phil Campbell High School, where he was a member of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, Future Business Leaders of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Hugh O’Brian Youth, Jobs for Alabama Graduates and the basketball and track teams. Bell is the son of Rodney Bell and Amanda Smith. His grandparents are Blenda Bell and Rodger Bell. While at Northwest-Shoals, he will pursue a degree in nursing.
– Danielle Hastings, Red Bay, received an ambassador scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. She graduated from Red Bay High School, where she was a member of Health Occupations Students of America, Science Club, English Club, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Leo Club and basketball team. She was also president of Students Against Destructive Decisions. Hastings is the daughter of Donnie and Valarie Hastings. Her grandparents are Don and Nancy Hastings and Ken and Patricia Knutse.
– Jordan Craig Brown, Hodges, received an academic scholarship from Northwest-Shoals Community College. He graduated from Vina High School, where he was is a member of the National Honor Society. Brown is the son of Stanley Brown and Joy Brown. His grandparents are Glen and Shelia Lawson and Dale Glick and the late Cumi Kay Glick.
