Joan Elizabeth Jarnigan, 58, Russellville, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
Joan was a member of Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was a huge Alabama fan. She loved being outside working in her flowers and garden. She enjoyed going to concerts with her children. She was loved by all and will be missed by everyone.
The visitation will be 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Gerald Hoyle.
She is survived by her husband, Talton Jarnigan; children, Calie White and husband, Derrick, Matthew Jarnigan, Jacob Jarnigan; grandchildren, Hannah Priest, Emma Priest; sister, Jane Pirtle Ticer and husband, Larry; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Franklin Pirtle; mother, Mary Elizabeth Bailey Pirtle; and brother, Timothy Franklin Pirtle.
The pallbearers will be Matthew Jarnigan, Derrick White, Todd Johnson, Shane Burney, Josh Mitchell, William Mitchell, Phillip Jarnigan, and David Horten. The honorary pallbearers will be Robert Bailey and Wesley Jarnigan.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Keller Hospice and Home Health, as well as to the Muscle Shoals Cancer Center for the love and care of our family.
