Delano Roosevelt Winstead, 78, Phil Campbell, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Winstead served his country in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War.  He loved working as a mechanic on cars; sometimes working on cars for people and not charging them for the work.  His sons say he was the best man they have ever known, and a great example of what a man should be.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

The visitation was Friday, May 9, 2014 at Spry Memorial Chapel.  The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jeff Whitten officiating.  Burial will be at Blue Springs Cemetery with military honors.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris Imajean Winstead; four sons, Curtis Winstead, Kenneth Winstead, Robin Winstead, Eric Winstead; grandchildren, Whitney Winstead, Alec Winstead, Kensley Winstead, Savanah Winstead, Kyleigh Winstead, Mystri Winstead, Maximus Winstead, Ariel Winstead, Aurora Winstead, Skylor Bouwmans, Kirstie Williams; great-grandchild, Khaliah Hall; sisters, Audrey O’Kelley, Mazel Saint; and a host of nieces and and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Winstead; parents, Zackie and Lorene Winsted; brothers, Alfred Winstead, Melvin Winstead, William “Chub” Winstead, David Winsted, Douglas Winsted; and sisters, Ann Motes, Velma Welch.

The pallbearers will be Hershel O’Kelley, Samuel Winstead, Roy Motes, Tony Saint, Dennis Welch, and Joey Motes.
