Opaline Hargett McKinney, 83, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at ECM Hospital. She was born July 11, 1930 in Spruce Pine, and worked in clothing retail sales. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Services were Thursday, May 1, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Roger Wood officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Site Cemetery, Red Bay. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are two children, Janice Kiser, Muscle Shoals, and Sammy McKinney, Red Bay; one grandson, Jonathan Osborn, Muscle Shoals; and a sister-in-law, Polly Hargett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard McKinney; her parents, James Perry Hargett and Ethel Duncan Hargett; and her brothers and sisters, Troy Hargett, Evelyn Prestridge, Herlon Reeves and Theresa Lindley.

Pallbearers were Truman Peden, Boyd Tidwell, Gerald Collum, Gordon George and Pete Brandon.

Visitation was Thursday, May 1, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay.
