Velma Ruth Jones, 86, Russellville, passed away on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at Burns Nursing Home.

Mrs. Jones was one of ten children, one who was a Daddy’s girl and probably the most spoiled of the ten children. She grew into a fantastic basketball player. She attended church at First Baptist Church of Littleville until the last few years. She was always very outgoing, laughing, and simply enjoying life. She loved everyone she met, but especially her children and her grandchildren.

The visitation was Sunday, Mar. 2, 2014 at Spry Memorial Chapel, Russellville. The funeral followed in the chapel with Bro. Michael Johnson officiating. Burial was at Franklin Memory Gardens.

She is survived by her children, Susan Lane and husband, Andy, Nancy Riddle and husband, James, Aaron Jones and wife, Donna, Mark Jones and wife, Myra; grandchildren, Leah Tucker and husband, Mark, Christy Morgan and husband, Jon, Meredith Stump and husband, Charles, Laura Lamb and husband, Todd, Ryan Riddle, Nicholas Jones, Jacob Jones, Brent Bullion; great-grandchildren, Laney Beth Tucker, Joshua Tucker, Luke Tucker, Callie Riddle, Ben Riddle, Kyler Bullion, Hannah Bullion; sister, Dixie Walker, brothers, Bobby Myers, Mark Myers, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Carmon A. Jones; parents, Daniel and Iva Myers; brothers, Elmer Myers, Albert Myers, Luke Myers; sisters, Mary Matlock, Clemmie Gregory, and Nola Cummings.

The pallbearers were Jon Morgan, Charles Stump, Jerry Hulsey, Mark Tucker, Dwight Smith, and Steve Myers.

The family wishes to offer a special thank you to Burns Nursing Home, Amanda with Hospice Advantage, and Spry Memorial Chapel for the compassion and care shown towards to the family. Also, they want to extend a special thanks to Nancy Hulsey for always being there with their mother.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be sent to First Baptist Church of Littleville, 1815 George Wallace Blvd, Russellville, AL 35654.
