Belgreen girls pick up pair of wins

At Belgreen on Jan. 6, the Lady Bulldogs pounded the Fayette County Lady Tigers by a score of 62-35.

After the first quarter, Belgreen lead 21-10. Jasmine Martin scored six of her 12 points, Allyson Bragwell scored six of her eight points, Laken Bragwell scored four of her 10 points, Lexie Bragwell scored three of her nine points and collected seven rebounds, and Hanna Taylor scored two points and collected eight rebounds.

In the second frame, Abby Hester scored three of her nine points and had four steals and seven assists in the game. Alex Miller also chipped in one of her three points as the Lady Bulldogs lead 34-17 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Brianna Wood sank two free throws as Belgreen took a commanding lead of 46-26 after three quarters.

In the fourth quarter, Emma Riley pitched in four points and Hannah Taylor added two more for the final tally.

On Jan. 7 , the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Northwest-Shoals Community College to play the Lady Panthers of Hackleburg in an area game where Belgreen held on for a 65-58 victory.

Hackleburg lead 18-15 after the first quarter despite five points by Hanna Taylor and two points from Laken Bragwell.

In the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs took the lead to make the score 32-27 and didn’t surrender the lead from that point forward.

Jasmine Martin scored six of her 11 points and Allyson Bragwell made four free throws bringing her to a total of eight points for the night. Martin and Bragwell also finished with six rebounds each.

In the third quarter, Lexie Bragwell scored eight of her 19 points and Abby Hester scored three of her seven points.

After three periods, Belgreen had a commanding lead of 50-33.

In the fourth period, Brianna Wood made four free throws, Alex Miller made two and Emma Riley made one for the final tally.
