John Garlen Mason, 87, of Phil Campbell passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Mason was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and a retired security guard. He was a member and deacon at Mt. View Baptist Church, Phil Campbell, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
The funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Mt. View Baptist Church, Phil Campbell, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Officiating was Sammy Taylor, Billy Thorn, and Bobby Joe Poss.
Survivors include wife, Bernice Welborn Mason; children, Wanda Thompson and husband, Randy, Littleville, Barbara Pounders and husband, Terry, Randy Mason and wife, LaWanda, all of Phil Campbell, Debbie McGee, and husband, Chris, Arlington, Ky.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, John and Leatha Mitchell Mason; two sisters; and seven brothers.
