Golden Tiger Anglers host tournament

The Russellville High School Golden Tiger Anglers hosted a “Fish Out High School” tournament on Pickwick Lake on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Riverfront Ramp in Sheffield.

Golden Tiger Anglers sponsor Sandy Evans said there were six schools that participated in the tournament including Belgreen High School, Colbert Heights High School, Phil Campbell High School, Brooks High School, Muscle Shoals High School and Russellville High School.

Out of those six schools, there were 46 students in 25 boats who participated in the event.

RHS’s own Samuel Evans took home the first-place award in the individual category with 8.49 pounds.

Martin McCravy of Brooks High School came in second place with 7.47 pounds, and Jace Gallagher of RHS, came in third with a lunker weight of 4.71 pounds and a total weight of 7.08 pounds.

The Golden Tiger Anglers won overall with a top three team weight of 18.18 pounds.

The RHS student anglers who participated in the tournament were Samuel Evans, Colton Cox, Jace Gallagher, Adam Mitchell, Luke Henson, Grayson Moore, Hayden Suddith, Abby Burks, Justin Rikard and Dylan Hatton.

“We just want to congratulate our student anglers and thank all the schools who came out to our ‘Fish Out High School’ tournament,” Evans said.
