Mary Lance Britton, 95, Tuscumbia (formerly of Russellville), passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Britton was an elementary school teacher in the Franklin County School system for 35 years.  She was a member of the Church of Christ.  She loved growing flowers, feeding the birds, and her cats.  Most of all she loved her family and looked forward to their visits.

The funeral followed the visitation on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Officiating at the service was Bro. Gene Britton and Bro. Glyndon Townsend.  Burial was at Franklin Memory Gardens.

She is survived by her brother, William Britton and wife, Ouida, Tuscumbia; sister-in-law, Wendy Britton, Allen, Texas; 11 nieces and nephews; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Ezell “Z” and Gussie (Johnson) Britton; sisters, Gertrude Townsend, Roxie Britton, Opal Ford; and brother, Morris Britton.

The pallbearers were her great-nephews, Gerald Wright, Randy Wright, Bart McAffry, Adam Britton, Jake Parker, Britt McKee, Patrick Townsend, and Hollis Clark.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Brad McAnalley and his staff; as well as to special neighbors, Arlon & Dianne Curtis for your love and care.
