Getting to know your neighbor

Editor’s Note: Getting to Know Your Neighbor is a regular feature spotlighting residents in Franklin County and how they look at certain things.

Name: Stephanie Madden Mayfield
Hometown: Russellville
Place of employment: Teacher with Russellville City Schools
Q: What is the best thing about your job?
A: Definitely the kids. I always say, “God gives us who we need and who needs us.”

Q: If you weren’t in your current profession, what would be your ideal job?
A: Law enforcement. It’s a passion of mine, and I love the work.

Q: If you could change places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
A: My mom, Linda Madden. It would be amazing to see life through her eyes and have her memories.

Q: If you could sit down to dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
A: My dad, just to have the opportunity to tell him how much I love and miss him every day.

Q: What’s the best present you’ve ever received?
A: The iPad that Mike, Hunter, Caitlan, and Anna gave me for Christmas. I use it every day.

Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: Going to church in Belmont, Miss., every Sunday with my three brothers, my mom and my dad. We would eat lunch at my grandmother’s afterwards, and those are some of my favorite memories.

Q: What do you think of as your greatest accomplishment in life?
A: Oh goodness, I can’t name just one. Accepting Christ as my Lord and Savior, my marriage to Mike and my amazing children.

Q: If you only had one meal left, what would it be?
A: Snow crab legs, corn, potatoes, Coke, and warm chocolate melting cake!

Q: If you won a million dollars, what would be your first purchase?
A: College tuition for all of our children.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
A: Ireland. My youngest daughter, Anna, has talked about it so much that I must go there.

Q: If you were the President of the United States, what would be your first law that you would enact?
A: I would repeal ObamaCare.

Q: If you were in local government, what would be the first thing you would change about the area?
A: I would intensify efforts to attract industry to this area.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about Franklin County?
A: The people; they are the greatest resource in Franklin County.

Q: What is something interesting about you that most people don’t know?
A: I am a comic book collector and I LOVE cartoons!
