James H. Bishop

James H. Bishop

April 25, 2013

James H. Bishop, 81, formerly of Hackleburg, has received a new address on April 25, 2013.

His home is now in Heaven, with The Lord Jesus Christ, whom he has preached for more than 48 years. Redeeming love has been his theme throughout his preaching ministry.

Our loss is Heaven’s gain and he will be greatly missed forever. Though he is absent from the body, he is indeed present with the Lord, and one day we will be reunited with him again.

Bro. Bishop has pastored 10 churches in his ministry. First Baptist Church of Hackleburg is his home church, where he pastored for 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, W. A. Bishop; mother, Ollie Bishop; three brothers; Irving Bishop, Luchion Bishop and R. Lee Bishop; two sisters, Ella Ray Brown and Ruby Pugh.

He is survived by one brother, Wayne Bishop, and three sisters, Betty Cummings, Sharon Howell and Hilda Elrod.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Fay Bishop, and their five children; Donna Bishop, Lynda Pounders and husband, Randy; Kathie Gilmore and husband, David; Mark Bishop and wife, Christy, and Shannon Bishop and wife, Melanie.

He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family.

Ps. 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”
