Russellville man killed in early morning crash

A Russellville man was killed in an early morning car crash Wednesday.

Alabama State Troopers said 64 year-old Larry E. Presley was killed when his 2012 Chevrolet Sonic struck a second vehicle head-on on Alabama 43 near Franklin 36 in Spruce Pine at 2:25 a.m.

Reports indicate that Presley’s vehicle was southbound in the northbound lane when he collided with a 1992 Chevrolet C1500 driven by 71 year-old Uthell Bankston, of Phil Campbell.

Bankston was transferred to a local hospital.

Troopers said Bankston was wearing a seat belt but Presley was not.

The accident is still under investigation.
