Couple accused of assaulting, robbing man

Two Russellville residents were arrested Friday night after allegedly attacking a man and then stealing his wallet and vehicle.

Christopher Allen Hulsey, 30, 818 NW Washington Ave., Russellville; and Elizabeth Renee Owens, 27, 408 Waterloo Rd., Russellville were both charged with first-degree theft of property, second-degree theft-of property and third-degree robbery. Owens was additionally charged with second-degree assault on a police officer.

According to Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett, officers were dispatched to a location behind Russellville Hospital Friday about 10 p.m. where a robbery had reportedly taken place.

Hargett said when officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a Hispanic male with visible injuries to his head and face who said he had been attacked by two people who had taken his Nissan Altima and his wallet containing cash.

Investigator Lt. Scotty Lowery said the victim was able to give a detailed description of the two people who had robbed him. Lowery said with this information and the information from the stolen vehicle, they were able to begin their search for the two suspects.

“Later that night, Miss Owens and Mr. Hulsey were spotted driving the victim’s vehicle,” Lowery said. “After they were taken into custody, officers found the victim’s wallet and other personal items taken from him in the car.”

At press time, both Hulsey and Owens are being held at the Franklin County Jail without bail.
