Police arrest man on domestic violence charges

A Russellville man is behind bars after allegedly assaulting a female victim and leading officers on an all-night search.
Micah Chauncey Brown, 29, Ridgecrest Apartments, Apt. B8, Russellville, was arrested for second-degree assault/domestic violence, Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said.
According to Oliver, Sheriff’s deputies received a call at 6:40 p.m. on Thursday to respond to a domestic violence situation at a residence on Franklin 63 in Russellville where it was stated a black male had a gun.
Oliver said when officers arrived on the scene, the discovered a female victim who was bleeding from her face and the back of her head.
Oliver said she told deputies she had been struck with the butt of a pistol by Brown, who had fled the scene on foot.
“We received a call a short while later that the suspect was several miles down the road from the residence trying to flag down vehicles,” Oliver said. “I took my personal vehicle and saw the suspect standing in the middle of the road trying to flag me down.”
Oliver said he went down the road and turned his vehicle around to face Brown, who started running toward the truck.
“He attempted to get inside the vehicle with me and was yelling for me to take him somewhere,” Oliver said. “When I started to get out of the vehicle to apprehend him, he recognized who I was and fled on foot again.”
Oliver said they received another call later in the evening stating the suspect had made it to Alabama 243 and was still attempting to flag down cars but he was gone by the time officers arrived.
“We searched for him throughout the night and finally received information around 6 a.m. Friday that he was staying at a residence in Russellville,” Oliver said. “We picked him and took him into custody.”
Brown is still in custody at the Franklin County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
