Unemployment rate remains steady

Franklin County’s unemployment rate remained unchanged in the month of November.

The number is holding steady at 8.2 percent, which is below the state average of 8.7.

Alabama’s overall jobless claims went down 0.6 percent from October to November, marking an overall unemployment rate of 8.7 percent.

The figure for Franklin County represents 1,096 county residents, while the state figure is 187,720 in November, down from 201,042 in October.

The Franklin County Times believes this proves that unemployment is dropping and the economy is rebounding, both of which are good signs for Franklin County and Alabama.
