Man robbed while paying utility bill

A Russellville man was arrested after allegedly robbing another man in broad daylight while he was trying to pay his utility bill this weekend.

Micah Chauncey Brown, 28, 100 Ridge Crest Estates, Apt. B8, Russellville, was arrested Monday morning and charged with second-degree robbery, Police Chief Chris Hargett said.

According to Hargett, the victim in the case pulled up to Russellville Utilities about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday to put his utility payment in the night deposit box.

Just as he was about to place the payment inside, Brown allegedly approached the vehicle and snatched the money out of the victim’s hand and fled the scene, Hargett said.

Inv. Scotty Lowery said officers obtained video surveillance that eventually led to Brown being developed as a suspect in the case.

Brown was arrested Monday morning and remains in custody at the Franklin County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
