Scholarships established for NW-SCC storm victims
Northwest-Shoals Community College’s Foundation has received $5,000 from Higher One to provide scholarships for tornado victims.
The Higher One Scholarship Fund was set-up to assist current or prospective NW-SCC students who have been tragically affected by the tornadoes of April 27.
According to Dianne Pace, acting NW-SCC foundation director, the scholarships can be used for summer or fall semester classes and will be given out based on need and on a first come, first serve basis.
“With the generous contribution by Higher One, we will be providing 10 scholarships in $500 increments,” Pace said.
According to NW-SCC President Dr. Humphrey Lee, additional scholarship funds are critical for current or potential NW-SCC students.
“During these dire times, the availability of scholarships for these affected students is tremendous,” Lee said. “For Higher One to see how our area has been devastated and make these funds available, shows how much they care about our community.”
Higher One provides a full array of services from refunds, payments, electronic billing, payment plans and more.
Higher One works closely with colleges and universities to ensure students receive Financial Aid refunds quickly, can pay tuition and bills online, make on-campus and community purchases, and learn the basics of financial management.
Higher One partners with public and private higher education institutions throughout the country to approximately 5.3 million students. More information about Higher One can be found at HigherOne.com.
