Local authorities get boost from grants
There is little doubt that being a police officer these days can be a tough job, but thanks to a grant from Homeland Security through the Emergency Management Agency the task will be getting a little easier for the Russellville Police Department.
Officers will now be provided with in-car computers, which will allow them to perform tasks quickly from their own car instead of having to radio the information to a third party and wait for a response.
Since officers will be using less time to check for warrants or verifying a drivers license, they will have more time to be patrolling the streets.
It is always a good thing when the police can focus more time on keeping citizens safe.
