No texting contest at RHS is good teaching tool
There are many dangerous activities high school students can engage in, but few can be as deadly as texting while driving.
Each year more than 4,000 teens die in automobile accidents, and texting behind the wheel of a car increases the likely hood of crashing.
Russellville High School is trying to educate its students about this danger in an innovative way — with a contest.
While some students may take the pledge to only to win the contest, others will hopefully take the pledge seriously and learn about the dangers of texting while driving.
If the contest can save one life, it is a succes. Shool officials, however, are hoping the contest will help its current students avoid texting related crashes all together.
Good luck RHS in your quest to keep your students safe.
