Grants for schools are good way to battle budget woes
Educators are facing tough times with budget cuts and proration. Unfortunately as the funding goes down the number of students continues to rise.
Instead of counting on generous lawmakers to provide enough money, many schools are looking for alternate ways to get extra cash.
Local schools have found success in those endeavors thanks to grants.
The library at Russellville High Schools is the most recent recipient of such a grant. That $6,000 grant was put towards books for the Accelerated Reader Program.
County schools have also benefited from recent grants.
Grants are an ideal way of making up for budget shortfalls. It is money the board of education does not have to take away from another program, and it is money that does not have to be paid back.
There are numerous grants available for schools; the only problem is sorting through the options to find the right grant to apply for. Here’s hoping more educators take the initiative to find grants for their students.
