Vina faces challenge on road
VINA — Vina will be on the road for the first time this season Friday when the Red Devils travel to Hackleburg.
The Red Devils are coming off a pair of tough losses and are beginning a difficult stretch of region opponents.
Hackleburg played in the state championship game one year ago and many favor them to get back. The Panthers lost some key offensive players, but the replacements seem to have picked up the slack — Hackleburg has outscored its first two opponents 90-14.
The Panther defense, which posted a shutout against Waterloo last week, returns several starters, including most of the front seven.
Vina’s offense will need to produce more points this week. The Red Devils have scored 15 points through their first two games.
Vina has not fared well against the Panthers in the past. Hackleburg is 35-7-1 against the Red Devils all time.
