Council appoints gas board members

The Rusellville City Council appointed two members to the city’s gas board Monday night.

The council appointed William Don Ross, who lives in District 1, and Jerry Mayfield, a re-appointment from District 3.

In other business, the council:

• approved a contract with North Alabama Paving in the amount of $43,990 for a turn lane at the intersection of Underwood Road and U.S. 43

• voted to hire a part-time compliance officer in the police department to work two days per week at $11 per hour, not to exceed 90 days

• approved a leave of absence request from police officer Jessie McKinney

• authorized the mayor to sign an airport grant application.
