City Lake Park fishing restriction lifted

The Russellville City Council voted Monday night to lift all fishing restrictions at City Lake Park.

The city stocked the pond in 2005 and there have been restrictions in place since.

Council members believe that opening the lake to fishing anytime will give more residents an opportunity to use it.

In other business, the council:

• elected Councilman William Nale to serve as the voting delegate and Councilman Lanny Hubbard as the alternate for the League of Municipalities business meeting

• ratified the summer lunch program agreement

• re-appointed Curtis Grissom to the water board

• voted to establish a banking account with Community Spirit Bank for the local gasoline tax fund

• ratified a contract with Coca-Cola for the parks and recreation department

• approved a $2,250 contract with David Bevis to referee ball games

• approved a $1,000 donation to the Russellville band.
