Don’t feel shameful

Have you ever had someone you use to work with get another job then act snobbish towards you? I have heard this happen time and time again. It is time that we remember our roots and where we have came from. Even though I am excited to be in my new job here, I haven’t forgot where I have come from to get this job. I worked endless hours at UNA on top of a part time job to get where I am today. Working hard in this area made me feel a huge sense of accomplishment and for that I am thankful. Wal-Mart was my job for almost five years and it paid the bills while I attended UNA. I’m not ashamed to say I worked at Wal-Mart to help me get to where I am today and I enjoy going and visiting those I worked with, who gave me lots of useful advice while I was working there. I remember my sister working at McDonalds as a swing manager on the weekends when she came home from Wallace State Community College. She is not ashamed to tell anyone she use to flip burgers for a living, because it was used as a stepping stone to get her in a position to become a medical lab technician. The roots of how you get somewhere should not in anyway be shameful.
I have seen people get prominent jobs after serving as a waitress in a local restaurant then act like she had never set foot in the place before. She would go back into the same restaurant she use to work at scrounging for tips, act like she had always been better than the ones she use to work with and then not leave a tip on the table after she ate her meal. How is that for forgetting where you came from? She ought to thank her lucky stars she did not end up scrubbing tables and waiting on people permanently.
We as human beings should be thankful for every opportunity that comes our way, but not forget what we had to do before the opportunity presented itself. There is nothing shameful about doing the best you can.
Respect people you have worked with in the past, respect your roots and where you came from and respect the path you have chosen in life. These elements should help you gain respect from others and lead you on a prominent path for a successful life. There I’ve said my peace until next time. Later Dayz…
